Did you know you can apply essential oils to your skin? Applying essential oils topically is a safe and effective way to experience the benefits of essential oils. This way of using essential oils is unique in the fact that it allows the essential oils to provide benefits to the targeted area directly, while still providing support for the whole body.

Essential oils are absorbed easily into your skin, and can have rapid effects for your body. It only takes 22 seconds for the molecules to reach your brain, 2 minutes for them to be found in your blood stream, and 20 minutes to affect every cell in your body, so they’re pretty powerful!

Effective Methods of Topical Application

Although essential oils absorb quickly into your skin, when you lightly massage them in, the blood flow in the area increases so the essential oils can spread around your body quicker and you can feel the benefits sooner. Plus, who doesn’t love a good massage anyway?

Another way to help essential oils to penetrate the skin, especially if your skin is dry and flaky, is to use a carrier oils such as fractionated coconut oil. The additional moisturising of the carrier oil will help carry the essential oil into the body faster, and prevent less of the essential oil from evaporating.

A favourite way to apply essential oils is as part of your beauty routine. You can add a few drops to a warm bath, or mix them with your beauty products like moisturiser or conditioner. This is a great way to pamper yourself without the nasty chemicals in a lot of beauty products!
